How Can We Help You Today?

Words that are all too common to the shoppers amongst us!  Sometimes we are barely over the threshold before being accosted by a smiling shop assistant asking what they can help with!  Of course, this can sometimes be a little irritating when one wants to just have a wander around and is not seeking anything in particular.  But what of those for whom shopping is a challenge whether through anxiety, sight challenges etc.  They can be reassured that help is available should they need it, that their needs will be met.

These words should also be commonly spoken amongst Christians for Jesus instructs us “For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:35-40.

I wonder what changes we could see in our communities if all our churches were to ask How Can We Help You Today?

Someone recently told me about a man living alone in the most horrible condition who was completely overlooked by all agencies etc.  There was no one willing to help him.  This is one man’s story, but how many others live in dire need of help in our communities?

I pray that each one of us has the strength and kindness of heart to ask How Can We Help You Today?

Love and Blessings

Louise
